I ordered the two books above to read to the kids, so maybe it would be easier for them to understand what's up with me. Emiko and I sat down on the couch together Friday night to read together. Hideo did not want to read with us. I told him that whenever he wanted to read them, either with me or by himself, they would be on the couch.
Emiko snuggled with me, and I started reading When Mommy Had a Mastectomy. I was fine the first few pages, and then I started crying. She was very calm the whole time. Just not easy. I got through the first book, and then she read the second book to me, which made things easier. I don't know if it helps or not, but I do want Emiko and Hideo to have as much information as they can handle.
My dear sister sent me a care package! I noticed, while searching "breast cancer supplies" on etsy, that there is a ton of crap that I apparently need. For example, when you lose your boobs, until your new ones are created, you have a weird pocket next to your armpits. It feels weird when you sleep. So you can by these heart-shaped pillows that fit under your armpits so you can sleep better. Heather is a crafty gal, so I asked her if she could make me some armpit pillows, in a Razorback print. So she did! Aren't they cute?
The item in the middle is a pillow that you strap around your seat belt, to protect your chest wounds from the seat belt. Another item I had no idea I needed, but it makes so much sense. I told Heather that this might be her calling. Maybe next she needs to make me some Razorback sleeping caps!
I got my first old lady nightgown in the mail Saturday. Todd was impressed with how sexy it is. !
Tomorrow after work I am going to Kaiser to get some lab work done, and if I have time, there is a monthly support group that is meeting at 4:30 that I would like to check out.
Fingers crossed that the meeting with the correct plastic surgeon goes well, and that I will have a surgery date!
